Frequently Asked Questions

Who can enroll?

Every child that can read and write can follow the French After School Program. However, I recommend to start no earlier than 3rd grade. The FASP program is originally designed for students that want to follow the program for 1 year.

What can I expect?
It is an interactive program based on the latest learning method: éventail Junior 'En Action', used by Belgian teachers in their classes to teach French as a second language in 5th and 6th grade.
Vocabulary and verbs are taught using flash cards and games. With overlapping daily practice using poems, songs, listening exercises and role play, there is no need for extra study or homework.
By the end of the year students should be able to:

  • Count in French

  • Master some important vocabulary

  • Master some basic grammar rules like: masculine and feminine, definite and indefinite articles, plural, place of the adjective, possessive adjectives, negation, prepositions, ...

  • Introduce themselves and have small conversations about their family, the date, the classroom, the weather, the time, their age, what they like to wear, how they look like, their address, transportation, their home, their hobbies, ...

  • conjugate some regular and irregular verbs in the simple present

Does my child need to bring something?
No, each student will receive all course materials including a binder, worksheets and a personal curriculum. Materials will remain at EABS each day.

Will my child have homework?
No, because of the daily practice there is no need to study or make extra homework.

When are classes held?

Classes are given Monday through Friday on all regularly held school days, based on the Denton ISD calendar. No classes will be held on scheduled holidays or when public school is cancelled due to inclement weather or for any other reason. At the end of every trimester, there are 4 make-up days.

At the end of each trimester, students will receive a report card. Upon satisfactory completion of the entire year (3 trimesters), students will receive a Certificate of Completion issued by European Academy of Bright Stars, LLC.
